Marine Corps Marathon
The Marine Corps Marathon is an annual road marathon organized by the U.S. Marine Corps that guides runners on a scenic, point-to-point course through Washington, D.C., and Arlington, Virginia, passing landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial, the National Mall, and the U.S. Capitol before finishing at the Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima Memorial). Known as “The People’s Marathon,” the event emphasizes participation, service, and support—Marines and spectators line the route to cheer runners—rather than prize money. The marathon weekend also features additional races and community-focused activities that attract recreational and competitive runners alike.
