Dedicated to beloved Civil Rights leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., this significant memorial highlights the struggles of the African-American community and King's dream of equal rights for all. King's "I Have a Dream" speech, notably delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, is a lasting testimony to his dedication to the Civil Rights movement. Visitors can look for text of the famous speech inscribed on the monument, see an immense, 30-foot carved stone likeness of King and relax in the peaceful setting overlooking the Tidal Basin. As the only African-American to be honored with a memorial in Washington, DC, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s message of love and tolerance continues to inspire millions around the world.
